The 11 stops include Jamsil, Ttukseom, Seoul Forest, Jamwon, Ichon, Yoinaru, Seonyudo, and Nanji. The amphibious transportation will be available every 10-15 minutes during commuting hours from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m, city officials said, adding that it will cost 5,000 won per ride during those hours. The taxis will require reservations during other hours, officials said.
Seoul City will allow a free test-run of the water taxis for 294 Seoulites for three days, from today to Thursday. Among those selected, 168 people will tour parts of the Han River, and the remaining 126 will ride the taxis during commuting hours, officials said.
These water taxis will be used to attract more visitors, and enable them to get a better view of the water wonderland being created in the heart of the capital.
This is a part of the city's plan to transform the Han River into a more accessible and environmentally friendly place, which they hope will be a global hot spot by 2010. The four-year project is called the "Renaissance of the Han River," and is expected to cost 253 billion won.
Those interested in a free ride or to make taxi reservations should contact the call center at 1588-3960."
